At least one thing hasn't changed:

Some marriages REALLY work:

  1. I have now been with my partner for over thirty-five years. In this country at least I would have got less than that for murder. (Which I have reminded him from time to time.) Am I serious? Not today.

    1. An old joke: It's a couple's 25th anniversary. Their son comes over to congratulate them & finds his father in the bathroom, crying. He says, "Dad, you don't have to be ashamed of crying. I know you're just overcome with emotion today!" His father says, "You don't understand. The day we were married your mother made me so mad I wanted to kill her--I even tried to. She stopped me by telling me that if I killed her they'd put me in prison for 25 years. That's why I'm crying--I could have been a free man today!!"

  2. I LOVE the little chimpanzee!! You have to keep him. Or I will borrow him.
My first marriage lasted 23 years, we grew apart after marrying too young. We really had nothing in common except the kids. Second marriage was a too quick mistake which will never be repeated.

  5. Wonder why they interviewed serial killers for the spanking article. Goodness, three of them were down right scary looking.
We have come a long way, thank goodness. Cracked up at "Identify it."

  7. I've enjoyed a spanking from time to time. TMI, right? If performed gently, it can be pretty sexy.

    Love,

  8. Sometimes I am blown away with what was published "back in the day". Although, I am not a fan of the guy just handing over the credit card... those babies have to be paid off! And just who do you think has to do all the budgeting to pay it off? Hmmm? Hmmm?

    Ooops.

    Having a marital issue flashback.

    My bad.

  9. Dear Fishducky, the Sweet Lorraine video was so heartwarming and lovely. To have been married 75 years. How empty and soul-less Fred's home must seem without her. And what wonderful work that young man did in composing the music. I don't have an iPod and so can't order a copy, but I do so hope that many people order the song. Thank you for sharing it. Peace.

  10. Should a wife be spanked? That's a good way to wake up dead!
Well, maybe therapeutic spanking but only done reciprocally :)

  12. A good reminder that some things HAVE changed for the better. At least now most publications aren't quite so blatantly sexist.
