WILDLIFE PARENTING

Most of these shots seem near impossible to get,
yet this photographer got them.

These awesome pictures were sent to me by
Elephant's Child (myjustsostory.blogspot.com).

Thank you, E. C.!!

  4. My heart melted. Again.
And I smiled (again) at the picture of the bears where I am sure the young un is being taught to piddle standing up - like daddy.
Great cartoons too Fran. Thank you.

    1. Thank you (for the pictures)!! You just reminded me of this: I tried very hard to stop swearing when Nameless started to talk & was reasonably successful. Unfortunately, I cut my finger badly while I was preparing dinner. I reflexively said, “Shit!” I guess she heard me. She then went to use the potty by herself. She tried to urinate standing up. After all, if her daddy could do it, why couldn’t she? Then she found out why. Her little legs were all wet. She said “Shit!” just as her daddy was getting home from work & walking by the open bathroom door. He told her that we don’t talk that way in our house. She said, “Mommy does!”

  5. Those pictures Sue sent you are over-the-top adorable. They're all so sweet, I couldn't possibly pick a favorite.

Love the cartoons, too. It's a shame babies don't come with written instructions, isn't it? Somehow, we muddled through without screwing them up too badly...

  6. Those are too precious!

The many-legged bird reminds me of the sandgrouse. The male flies to a watering hole and soaks up water in its feathers, then takes it back to the babies so they can drink. Animal dads are parents too, shockingly enough!
