SOME THINGS I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW

What do Mahatma Gandhi, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Josef Stalin all have in common? They have all been—once or several times—Nobel Peace Prize nominees. That is right; Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Benito Mussolini were all nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Adolf Hitler was recommended to the Nobel committee in 1939, just three short months before he led Germany to invade Poland and start World War II. Former Soviet Union leader, Josef Stalin, was nominated twice: in 1945 and 1948. Benito Mussolini was nominated for the 1935 Nobel Peace Prize, the same year the Italian Fascist Dictator invaded Ethiopia.

Stephen D Unwin, a PhD in theoretical physics, wrote a book where he calculated the probability that God exists: 67%.
Rock star Ozzy Osbourne once joined a Christian protest march against himself outside of one of his concerts.
Humans are not at the top of the food chain but near the middle, on a level with pigs and anchovies.

Dolphins go on killing sprees when they are sexually frustrated.

More than half of the Earth's surface is not subject to any nation's laws.
In Sweden, you can buy toilet paper called Kräpp.
Ants communicate by swapping spit.

Opossums defend themselves by faking their own death.

Sea lions love the smell of cinnamon.

In 2015, President Obama made it legal for Americans to own asteroids.

There's a Testicle Festival in Montana every summer.

At 98 feet in length and 180 metric tons or more in weight, the blue whale is the largest known animal to have ever existed. The Blue Whale’s tongue weighs around 5,952 pounds, about the size of an average Asian Elephant and its heart weighs about 1,300 pounds and is the largest known in any animal. Not only is the heart similar in size to a mini-cooper car, but it is also comparable in weight. By comparison, the largest known dinosaur of the Mesozoic Era was Argentinosaurus, which is estimated to have weighed up to about half the weight of the largest blue whales.

  1. The Nobel Peace Prize nominees were (and are) very scary. Love that the cheats were cheating themselves. And didn't ruin anyone else's marriage. Poetic justice at its best.

    1. I wonder if they had "an affair" after they discovered who their online lover was?

  2. Wow! and here I thought sharks were the dangerous. Next time I go to the beach, I'll use the excuse that horny dolphins have been spotted and I need to stay out of the water.

Sharks may glow in the dark, but they had better be on the watch for horny dolphins.

Testicle Festival...that's too funny. I'd like to see the winner. No, on second thought I wouldn't! I wonder if they allow dolphins to participate in the festival?

I can picture Ozzy doing something like that...protesting, that is! Not being in the Montana Testicle Festival, but I hear he owns a dolphin that enters the contest every year. :)

  4. The Peace Prize does sometimes seem a sham, but then, a PEACE PRIZE named after the guy that invented DYNAMITE.

  7. Lots of new ones for me. Three of the most despicable despots in history were proposed for Noble Peace Prize?

  8. The fact is, and even Churchill agreed, if Hitler had died in 1939 he would have gone down in history as one of the greatest leaders ever.

We’ve had possums play dead around here. They really do pass out cold from fear, and unless it’s a car that is the threat, it generally works and they come to a bit later.

    1. Or fortunately depending on your point of view. Without the war, I may have grown up a German Hausfrau instead of an Australian frolicking on beaches.

  9. Mmm...KitKats, filled with KitKatty goodness! The chip packing doesn't surprise me. The atmosphere is 78% nitrogen anyway. Good project by that science fair water-denier! I need some of those fake book covers for my fake books.

  10. Many possums fooled our dog Bandit. All the rest of this was brilliant, thanks for finding it all and putting it together for our enjoyment and enlightenment. Good for Norway they didn't squander the Peace Price.
